San Diego 2010 - Day 5 pictures

Balboa Park is really wonderful.

I always thought this sculpture/climbing thing was strange and fun. I don't think I ever imagined my kids on it, though. It was great, and they loved it.

The model railroad museum was cool for all.

Back to the beach. For real, this time. Bathing suits and all. She was in love. She let me take her out pretty deep and kept asking for more.

Then, after she was turning blue from cold, she started digging in the sand. Curiously, she had no interest in any of the shells or sand dollars I found.

Love the cell phone sun flares.

San Diego 2010 - Day 4 pictures

The Wild Animal Park.
One of our best days in San Diego.

Every time Jim came to the Wild Animal Park when we used to live in San Diego, the cheetahs were not visible. So we were pretty excited that they were out sunning themselves on this trip.
Laura is still in love with all things Africa, especially lions.

Elephants and pelicans are 2 of my favorite animals. I got to see both on this trip. Even a baby elephant!

I had no idea porcupines were so cute. The ones at the MN zoo are always asleep. It was fun to see this one eating up close to the front of the exhibit. And below, you can see how funny they are when they waddle.

San Diego 2010 - Day 3 pictures

One of the few redeeming exhibits at the Children's Museum. A "rain house" with big puzzle pieces inside.

The floor was soft and felt like a massage when you walked on it with no shoes. The place really rejuvenated me when I was just about done with the vacation (on Day 2!)

Laura, Adam, and Adam's look-alike.

The San Diego Glider Port is a beautiful place. The gliders just run and jump off a cliff. Its crazy and awesome.

There are cool places to scamper about near the glider port. Hard packed dirt carved by water. Laura continued to be so brave with jumping, running, climbing. I just need to get over the fact that she is braver than me. I should learn from her!

Adam liked this much better than the beach. As long as we were between them and the cliff's edge, we let them run. Lots of fun, even for sleepy people with colds.

San Diego 2010 - Day 2 pictures

She's definitely going to be our sleepy-in-the-morning kid.

He's such a morning person. Its annoying sometimes..

The pack n play came with a tub of toys. The bristle blocks were a hit!

 First look at the ocean.

This was about the extent of his interest on this day. After he did this a little, then he wanted to be held.

This one wouldn't stay out of the water.

 Aw, our old condo.

The hotel pool was nice. It was salt instead of chlorine. I'm a fan!

San Diego 2010 - Day 1 pictures

 "More! More! More!"

A fitting first meal for our vacation. Fantastic food in Little Italy. Its also cool because my parents went there when they lived in San Diego way back when. (Hee hee)

The view from our complex. Large rocky hills definitely mean San Diego to me.

The hot air balloon as it is inflating.

Jim and Laura going up. You can see Laura's golden hair shining in the fire. They said it was VERY HOT when they turned on the fire.

 Yippee! That was fun!
