The mighty Mississipp'

We were heading home after church yesterday (been going in Bloomington lately) and we decided we needed to finally walking across this old pedestrian bridge over the Mississippi before the water level goes back down. It was almost underwater, and there is evidence that it recently was completely covered. 

If you really want to, you can see 3 white trumpeter swans floating. Gosh they're big!

This is from the driving bridge, which is a littler higher. The pedestrian bridge looks like it's just floating!

One end the bridge connects to a trail that is rather moist.

NK Team Tournament 2019

This is the more relaxed of her 2 annual tournaments. But it was also her first team tournament as a black belt. A much much higher level of competition. She was against girls 11-13, any level of blackbelt. She was a small 12 year old and brand new black belt. So, challenging to say the least. She came home with 4th for an all-black-belt megateam, 1st in form and 3rd in sparring. And a lot of pride for giving it her best go against a very talented, very big 13 year old 2nd degree in sparring. These are the most fun tournaments, definitely! She's getting to the point where she knows the girls from other schools and they meet up every year. Super great group!

February catch up

 It sure snowed a lot this February! More than ever before! and talk about cold! 

So the kids were home 5 extra days from school for winter weather related reasons. That was definitely enough for all of us. Here's some pics of how we spent our time.
