Laura wants to tell you about her first day of school... the first day of school is always interesting, so I wanted to tell you about it. First me and my brother woke up. It seemed like forever till the bus came! I sat by him and we talked about school. Once we got there, I told Adam to go inside, but it turns out that on the first day of school, the kindergarten teachers are outside. Adam figured that out by himself. He did a really good job. Meanwhile, I was downstairs (can you believe it? all of the other K-2nd grades are upstairs) and trying to figure out what she meant by "unloading your backpack." I asked her and she said that the kids who brought their stuff to school had to do that (the school got it for us). After I figured that out, up on the board it said to sit at your table spot, so I did. I was a little bit nervous. And we had morning meeting. It took awhile. Its interesting because in all my classes, the specialist was in the afternoon, but my specialist time was right after morning meeting. Today, we had multi-media art. Its where you do art on the computer and not just painting art. Its called "new media" and painting and drawing and stuff is called "traditional media". And the multi-media art teacher is our regular art teacher's sister! (oh and by the way, my homeroom teacher's name is Mrs. Anderberg.) The multi-media art teacher's name is Mrs. Grimsrud. After that, all I can remember is we did math. For math, we made a graph using little heads that you could pick what color the hat was, what was in their glasses, what shape their nose was, and if they were smiling or not. Then we went to recess. I pretended "termites". After that, we went back to our room and got our lunch boxes. Then we went to the cafeteria and ate lunch. Then she read us a book out loud. Its a funny book about a cat and a dog. I don't remember the name of it. I'll tell you it next time because its a chapter book. The rest of the time, we spent reading, writing, and sharing. Then we filled out our planners and then we got on our buses and Adam was two people behind me in line for the bus! We sat together. He wouldn't show me his stuff until we got home. Finally, when we got home, he showed me his stuff and we ate angel food cake. Yea! I am really looking forward to going to the Star Lab and dissecting squids this year. I'll blog again later Laura
