Preteen!

Laura-lou had a special day too - she turned 11!
Happy Birthday!
Breakfast birthday bagels

And presents before school!

Cake decorating in the morning

She did a beautiful job!

And cake eating after school

She had her music performances at school and in the evening that day. The theme was music from around the world and celebrating our cultural heritage. While this is a noble idea, they do it to an extreme at our kids' school and the mutts like us sometimes have to make a point of being proud of our American heritage. Laura was pretty grumpy about celebrating everybody else on her birthday, but she wore my old dress made by Grandma Ann that we call the "Laura Ingalls Wilder Dress" and she celebrated her farming heritage.

Of course she had to dance a little jig

Not to be outdone jigging...

At the performance that night - she stood next to sweet Cherry. Laura sure knows how to pick her friends! They will miss each other in middle school.

Cake for breakfast the next day
And her new karate shirt and wrapped hands so she can hit her new punching bag. She's so tough!

Jim took her to a Bollywood music program the next night as part of her gift.

We are so proud of this kiddo!
