2018 Diamonds

This year's Diamond National karate tournament was Laura's first as a black belt.  That means she gets to move into the black belt room and the competition was more intense. 12 girls in her age / weight and she earned 3rd in both form and sparring! Way to go kid!

Laura's first sparring match

Laura's 2nd sparring match

Laura's form

Maia's sparring match (crazy intense)

Megateam
(music messed up, but they kept going - just like they should)

Conner and Helen's AA form - on the stage!!

These pictures are by Helen's dad Huy Hoang. Its such a gift for him to share these, it means I really get to watch my kid and not worry about capturing anything on "film". And also, my camera is terrible and I have no photography skills :)

Some fellow black belt friends getting ready to spar

Love that they make friends with each other before they punch each other :)

This is the fancy room - AA sparring and forms (toughest competition). It was fun to watch, but Laura's not here yet.

Good game, good game, good game...

Trophy time!

Diversity is incredible!!

And DQ afterwards!

Good friends

This is what Adam does during karate tournaments.

Top 3 black belts get to choose trophy or medal. She chose one of each, here she is testing if its real gold, I mean bronze (it's neither).
The 1st place trophies for black belts are super cool, but 2nd and 3rd are just like all the rest she has in her closet. I'm guessing she'll be choosing medal from now on, unless she takes the top spot. Something to shoot for!
