Summer Catch Up
We started the summer by finishing Adam's baseball season. I'm not sure he'll play again next year. Its a VERY slow game for a kid who's not all that into it.
We "quilted" Laura's blanket
Breakfast in bed for Mom!
Laura had more fun at Adam's baseball games than he did. She made herself the ballgirl and earned her own hat.
Laura and I went to see The Music Man at the Guthrie. It was great!
In fact, it was a summer of musicals. Jim and I went to Pirates of Penzance at the Ordway, the whole family saw Guys and Dolls at the Black Dirt Theater, the kids and I went to see my cousin Mike's daughter Maya in Oliver!, and the kids and I watched The King and I on video.
We rented a pontoon boat for an afternoon.
Laura's a crazy karate sparring fool
We bought a paddle board.
Three of us fit on it (but NOT all 4 of us, trust me, we tried). As Michelle phrased it: its a floating island that we can take anywhere anytime.
We had a great potato harvest
Also, a boat load of cherry tomatoes which I have been gorging on after roasting them, ground cherries, asparagus, rhubarb, black raspberries, cucumbers, dill, basil, jalapeƱos and mint. The sweet peas were a spectacular failure this year, but you can't win them all.
awww...its a busy life
More pictures from the boat
We swam near a loon
I am getting less fuddy-duddy about cold water
Eating dinner on a boat is the coolest
We finally got a basketball goal
We have all enjoyed it more than I could have anticipated
We spent a lot of time in the water this summer. Much more than normal. I am having some kind of panic attack about next winter and want to enjoy the heat as much as possible, I guess. Also, the threat of leaving Minnesota has made me want to enjoy all of its resources.
A fantastic year for flowers, especially gladiolus
County fair was great
Adam fell in love and was genuinely sad to leave this particular pony
Got 'em
We finally found a swimming program that all three of us are happy with. Adam is *almost* water safe now, and both want to go back to this pool for next lessons. Too bad it is outside!
Yea! School starts next week!

The rest of Seattle
Atop the Space Needle
Harry's Invisibility Cloak at the EMP museum *snark*
Inigo's father's sword and the six-fingered man's glove
at the EMP museum
Outside of the EMP
Great playground out here
We got kicked out of the museum for a false-alarm fire and had a good time.
Pilot Jim at the Museum of Flight
Hurricane!
We could have played with this thing for 30 minutes straight, no problem. I need one in my house for stress relief.
President Laura descending from Air Force One
Jim finally boarded the Concorde
salmon, thinking about swimming up the fish ladder
They are much bigger than I expected!
Postcard-worthy
the kids were sleepy a lot due to the time change, but they handled it all very well
Funny truck and boats on top of the barge
Its a BIG barge headed to Alsaka
The Mountain was out every day except when we went up in the Space Needle
I think this guy on the jet ski is named Orca Bob or something? Apparently he's a regular site on Harbor Tour
Hey Babe!
At the science museum
Pike's Place Market
I guess this is becoming her thing? Actually, I had to kinda force her to play so I could video it. Geez, mom...
Sorry it's sideways.
And then we spent 2 lovely days with Michelle, John and Odin on their brand new farm. It was awesome seeing them again, enjoying the goats, horses, and dogs, and I even got to supervise some fence building. :)
Awesome way to end our crazy busy summer. Now its two weeks of total laziness and then school starts!

Second day in seattle
Today, we went for a swim, picked up Jim at the airport, went to the Museum of Flight, checked out the fish ladder and locks, swam again, and went on a harbor cruise.
Most of my pictures were on my camera today, not my phone. So I'll leave you with this one and will post the other ones later. You're welcome.

First day in Seattle
The kids and I beat Jim to Seattle by one day. We walked a TON, ventured thru Pikes Place Market, added to the Gum Wall, rode the ferris wheel on the waterfront, and went swimming at the hotel. Fun fun so far! Also, here's the picture I drew during the flight. I think it's funny that the treat the kids wanted at Pikes was a granny smith apple each :)
