Happy Birthday and ABCs

Here's a video of Laura's latest singing.

And 2 pictures from my birthday. I had a great day. Jim left early and brought back breakfast. Laura and I went to storytime and then she went home with a friend so Jim and I could have lunch alone. Then Laura and I took naps and I relaxed with a book. We had pizza for dinner and Jim brought home some birthday treats. I almost forgot that I had a major failure trying to bake my own cake last night. Jim's replacements tasted much better and were much prettier!

Another booger story

I don't know why the stories I write about are always booger stories, but here's another one:

Tonight, Laura and I were snuggling before she went to bed and I touched her hair and felt something stuck in it. I asked what it was and tried to get it out. She said "Its a booger. A booger from my nose. Mommy, sing a song about boogers in noses." I laughed so hard and then sang a little song about boogers in noses.

Springtime...kind of

We decided 40 degrees felt good enough for small jackets this afternoon - almost like springtime! Except for the snow on the ground, of course. We didn't stay out too long, but we did enjoy it while it lasted.

'ogurt and boogers

I wanted to write this down before I forgot:
At 5:30 this morning, Laura started crying "Need to eat 'ogurt!" out of the blue. I have no idea where this came from. I guess she had a dream. She hasn't had yogurt in at least a week. After I helped her calm down and lay back down, she held something out to me and said "Mommy want this?". I didn't know what it was, so I said "sure". It turned out to be a big slimy booger.

What a great start to the morning!

Laura's song and kick sledding

Laura bursts into long medleys of song every now and then and I finally caught part of one on tape:

It was 40 degrees here last weekend (though you'd never know it from the -20 this morning!) and we rented a kick sled from Lebanon hills park and went to play on the frozen lake. Laura really like to sit on the very end of the sled so she could "fall off" face foward into the snow whenever she wanted to. She thought it was hilarious. This is really the first time that she really enjoyed the snow. After playing outside, we sat by a fire ring and had a snack, then went into the visitors center to see the turtle and play with some toys. It was a lot of fun!

Ponytails, vacuuming and fireman Jim

I found a little vacuum for 50 cents at Goodwill and it has been a big hit!
Here's my attempt at ponytails in Laura's whispy hair. She doesn't look to amused, huh? But she tolerated it well.

In case you haven't heard, Jim has started volunteering with the city's fire department. He's still in training, but still gets the pages and can go to the station and help clean up the truck after the calls. He had to bring his uniform home one night to transfer it from one station to another, so I got some pictures:

A few from home

Laura's first snowman...

I know its a sad little snowman, but the snow just wouldn't stick together.
When Laura was really little, Aunt Emma gave her a bunch of puppets and these curtains to make a stage. We finally pulled them out the other day and she has been obessed with them ever since.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year

We've recuperated well and spent about a week at both family's houses.
Here are some holiday pictures. I'll add some pics as soon as I can find the CD with the pictures on it. (we're still unpacking):
